Incident Command Training (ICS 402 for Executives and Senior Officials)

This 3-hour course is designed to provide an overview of the operational framework of the Incident Command System (ICS) that is utilized by all those that may respond to a critical incident at your school. Supervisory Unions are strongly encouraged to attend this training with their school executive leadership teams.

Crisis Communications and Public Information for Schools

This 3-hour course is designed to teach school administrators or designated staff how to communicate with parents, the public, and the press during a critical incident or school emergency.  The course focuses on clear and effective communication strategies to maintain a sense of calm among the public and control of the scene during an event. Supervisory Unions are strongly encouraged to attend this training with their school executive leadership teams.

School Crisis Planning Presentation - Royalton

During a Local Emergency Planning Committee meeting, Emily Harris of the VT Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security will present on the development of Emergency Operations Plans (EOP) for schools and the role that first responders play in the development of this plan.  She will share the EOP template developed by FEMA, Department of Education, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Justice and the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the Vermont School Crisis Guide, developed by the Vermont School Crisis Planning Team.  Use of these tools help ensure consistency across the schools and supervisory unions.

ICS 200 - Incident Command System for Single Resources & Initial Action Incidents

Course Overview: This course is designed to enable personnel to operate efficiently during an incident or event within the Incident Command System. This course focuses on the management of single resources.  This course is designed to provide overall incident management skills rather than tactical expertise.

Target Audience: First responder supervisors, Emergency Management Directors and Coordinators, School Principals, Superintendents, school crisis planning team members and other school key decision makers and those who would likely be assigned as unit leaders and above within an ICS structure, or as directed by the chief executive of the agency.
